Miami remained in the top 25 of the newly-released coaches poll on Sunday afternoon.

The Hurricanes fell 12 spots to No. 25 in the poll following their 17-9 loss to Texas A&M in Week 3. Miami failed to reach the end zone despite gaining nearly 400 yards of offense.

Miami had its chances vs. the Aggies, but made too many crucial mistakes on offense. The Canes generated just 9 points (3/4 field goal attempts) from 4 trips to the red zone.

Defensively, the Canes still look solid. They limited Texas A&M’s offense to just 5.1 yards per play. Quarterback Max Johnson threw for only 140 yards on the night.

Miami is the highest-ranked team from the Coastal division in this poll. Pittsburgh dropped out of the top 25 this week despite picking up a win over Western Michigan this week.

Overall, Miami is 2-1 this season and still has a lot to play for in Mario Cristobal’s first year at the helm.

Miami hosts Middle Tennessee in Week 4 to wrap up its nonconference slate.
