Miami is one of four “contenders” in the mix to land UCLA transfer Dante Moore out of the transfer portal, according to a report.

That’s per On3’s Chad Simmons, who says Miami is competing alongside Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon.

Moore just finished his true freshman season at UCLA. A former 5-star prospect, he will be one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the portal this cycle. He was the No. 5 overall player in the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Moore is a Michigan native who was committed to Oregon before flipping to UCLA at the end of the last cycle.

Miami was not involved in Moore’s recruitment late in the 2023 cycle, but the Hurricanes could offer Moore a strong chance to earn the starting job in 2024. With Tyler Van Dyke entering the transfer portal, Miami does not have an obvious successor currently on its roster.

Moore played in 9 games this season for the Bruins. He completed 53.5% of his passes for 1,610 yards, 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
