Miami reportedly losing assistant coach to Big 12 coordinator vacancy

Miami running backs coach Tim Harris is expected to leave the program to accept the offensive coordinator job at UCF, according to a report.

That’s per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, who notes that Harris has ties to UCF. He was the program’s co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach from 2021-22. The 2023 campaign was Harris’ first season with the Hurricanes.

Harris is a Miami alum. He was a 4-time All-American track star and was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2022.

Miami’s rushing attack was much-improved in 2023 during Harris’ lone season with t

he program. The Canes averaged 5.12 yards per carry, which ranked No. 2 amongst ACC programs.

Miami true freshman running back Mark Fletcher Jr. emerged as the team’s top threat out of the backfield in 2023. Fletcher came on strong late in the season, rushing for 100+ yards in 2 of Miami’s final 4 regular season contests. He finished the year with 514 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns.
