Miami will start true freshman Emory Williams on Saturday vs. Florida State, according to a report.

Geo Milian was first to report that news on Saturday afternoon. This will be Williams’ second career start.

Williams will get the nod in-place of Tyler Van Dyke, who has been dealing with injuries and inconsistency issues this season. Van Dyke has thrown 10 interceptions in his last 4 games, including 3 last week vs. NC State.

Williams previously started in place of Van Dyke against Clemson. Miami eventually won that game in overtime, although Williams struggled throughout the game. He threw for 151 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception on 33 attempts.

This will be a different type of test for Williams, who was a 3-star prospect in the class of 2023. Williams’ first start came within the friendly confines of Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. On Saturday, he will be greeted by a hostile crowd in Tallahassee.

Florida State will be looking for its third consecutive win over Miami on Saturday.
