Miami receiver Key’Shawn Smith is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.

Smith was a starter in 2021 and began the 2022 season as one of the Canes’ top offensive weapons. However, he didn’t record a catch during the month of November.

Smith has not yet announced this decision.

In 2022, Smith caught 13 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns. However, he made just one of those receptions after Oct. 8. He was not a factor in Miami’s receiving game over the second half of the season.

Smith was a member of Miami’s 2020 recruiting class. He was the No. 112 receiver in the country for that cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Nine Miami players, including Smith, are now expected to enter the transfer portal when it officially opens on Dec. 5. That number could increase in the coming days.

Miami is expected to be aggressive in replacing those players both in the portal and in their 2023 recruiting class.
