Miami vs. UConn is setting up to be a fascinating matchup between a pair of unlikely title contenders.

No. 5-seeded Miami is playing in its 1st Final Four in program history. The Canes are in unchartered territory, but they have a team built on versatile guards and forwards — a recipe for success in modern college basketball.

No. 4-seeded UConn is the odds-on favorite to win the National Championship, which would be their 5th in the past 25 seasons.

On Friday, ESPN’s panel of college basketball experts predicted the winner and final score of this game. Of the panelists, only Joe Lunardi is predicting Miami to win the game.

Here are their predictions:

  • Myred Medcalf: UConn 87, Miami 80
  • John Gasaway: UConn 85, Miami 81
  • Jeff Borzello: UConn 82, Miami 79
  • Joe Lunardi: Miami 71, UConn 69

Lunardi is also projecting a relatively low-scoring affair. The Hurricanes have scored at least 80 points in 3 straight NCAA Tournament wins. The Huskies have also scored 80+ points in 3 of their victories during the Big Dance. They haven’t scored fewer than 70 points since losing to Marquette in the Big East Tournament.

Tipoff is at 8:49 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
