Miami women’s basketball is moving on to the Elite Eight.
The Canes upset No. 4-seeded Villanova 70-65 on Friday afternoon, continuing their hot streak in the NCAA Tournament.
Miami held a big lead over Villanova in the 2nd half, but the Wildcats were able to take the lead in the final minute. However, Miami made a couple clutch shots and free throws in the waning moments to secure the win.
Jasmyne Roberts led the Canes with 26 points in the victory. She also had 9 boards and a pair of assists. It was her and-one with under 1 minute remaining that put the Canes up for good.

This is the 1st Elite Eight in program history for the Canes. Previously, they had only reached the Sweet 16 once before (1992). Miami’s path to get to this point also included wins over No. 8-seeded Oklahoma State and No. 1-seeded Indiana.
Miami will now prepare to face either No. 2 Utah or No. 3 LSU on Sunday in the Elite Eight.
