Miami’s only other appearance in the Sweet 16 came back in 1992. The Canes have never reached the Elite Eight in program history.
This is the 1st time ever that both of Miami’s basketball programs are in the Sweet 16 in the same season. Miami’s men’s basketball team also defeated a higher-seeded Indiana team to reach the 2nd weekend.
Miami will face No. 4-seeded Villanova in the Sweet 16 on Friday.
