Miami wide receiver Colbie Young is working with quarterback Jake Garcia to get on the same page for this week’s game.

Garcia could be in line to start in Week 9 if Tyler Van Dyke is unable to return in time from an injury. Van Dyke left Saturday’s 45-21 loss with an injury and Garcia replaced Van Dyke for the rest of the game.

“It’s the same as when I had to get the timing down with Tyler. Practicing reps, routes on air… we’ve got to build that chemistry,” Young said. “Jake’s a great QB. I feel like he’s gonna jump in there and get the timing down right away.”

Young had to make an early adjustment to catching passes from Van Dyke and Garcia in the 1st half. Even with the quarterback changes, Young had a sensational performance and was named the ACC Receiver Player of the Week. Young finished the game with 6 receptions, 127 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. He caught 1 touchdown pass from Van Dyke and Garcia in the Duke game.

If Garcia makes the start, Young will try to have another similar performance in Week 9. Young spoke to the media on Tuesday about how he is working with Garcia for this week

In last week’s loss, Garcia passed for 198 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. If Miami starts Garcia, he will try to use the reps in practice to get ready for the game.

Miami will be on the road against Virginia on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
