Miami WR enters transfer portal following bowl loss to Rutgers

Miami wide receiver Brashard Smith will play his final season of eligibility elsewhere.

Smith stayed and practiced with the team ahead of their Pinstripe Bowl matchup against Rutgers. However, Smith did not suit up against the Scarlet Knights in the 31-24 loss.

The former 4-star prospect and Miami native never lived up to his full potential with the Hurricanes, and some suggest he was improperly used in Coral Gables. Across 3 seasons Smith never totaled over 350 yards receiving but accrued 770 receiving yards with 4 touchdowns.

This past season Smith finished with 14 receptions for 199 yards and a pair of trips to the end zone.

Smith is the 4th Miami wide receiver to enter the transfer portal since it opened on December 4. He joins Colbie Young (who transferred to Georgia), Frank Ladson (Umass) and Williams Hawkins IV (undecided).
