Miami’s offense was able to move the ball vs. Texas A&M on Saturday night, gaining nearly 400 total yards against the Aggies’ vaunted defense.
But that Hurricanes’ attack softened in the red zone, resulting in Miami attempting 5 field goals — 3 were successful — and scoring 0 touchdowns.
Miami gained 27 first downs in the game but failed to find the end zone. According to Sports-Reference.com, Miami is the first team to accomplish that unenviable feat since at least 2000.
Miami gained at least 1 first down on all 8 of its drives. Four o
f those drives gained at least 65+ yards and another went for 44 yards. However, none of those trips resulted in 6 points for the Canes.
That proved costly in the end, as Miami fell 17-9. The Canes’ final drive ended in a turnover on downs near midfield.
Miami is now 2-1 on the season. The Hurricanes host Middle Tennessee in Week 4.
