New Miami receiver Frank Ladson is settling in with the Hurricanes.

Ladson is expected to be a key member of Miami’s offense this season following his transfer from Clemson. There will be plenty of targets up for grabs as last season’s No. 1 receiver — Charleston Rambo — is now in the NFL.

On Thursday morning, Ladson spoke with reporters and was very complimentary of his new quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke.

“Before we even stepped on the field for spring ball, we started running routes,” Ladson said. “And when I saw him throw that first post, that home run post, I was like, ‘yeah, he’s got a strong arm.'”

In three seasons at Clemson, Ladson totaled 31 catches for 428 yards and 6 touchdowns. Last season, his production waned to just 4 receptions as he battled injuries throughout the year.

Still, he’s expected to be a big component of Miami’s offense in 2022. Van Dyke is a potential Heisman Trophy candidate after impressing over the final six games of his freshman campaign in 2021. He ended the year with 300+ yards and 3+ touchdowns in each game down the stretch.

Fans will get a chance to see the Van Dyke-Ladson connection at Miami’s spring game on Saturday.

Miami opens the 2022 season with Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 3.
