Norchad Omier is returning to Miami for the 2023-24 season.

Omier made that announcement on Friday afternoon. He had previously declared for the 2023 NBA Draft, but will instead withdraw and return to Miami for another season.

Here’s the announcement:

Omier’s return is massive news for the Canes. He was arguably Miami’s best player throughout much of last season and was a very impactful presence on Miami’s first-ever Final Four squad.

Last season, he averaged 13.1 points and 10 rebounds per contest. He also averaged more than 1 block and 1 steal per game while often guarding bigger players.

Omier was particularly helpful on the glass in the NCAA Tournament. He averaged 13.3 rebounds per game in Miami’s 4 NCAA Tournament victories back in March. He also scored over 10 points per game in those contests.

Omier is 1 of 3 Miami starters from last season who are expected to return for next year. He’ll be joined by Wooga Poplar and Nijel Pack. Jordan Miller and Isaiah Wong are expected to begin professional careers.

Miami has also made a big splash in the transfer portal this offseason by adding former Florida State wing Matthew Cleveland to its roster.
