Former Miami athletic director Blake James is close to joining another program in the ACC, according to a report.

That’s per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who says that Boston College is targeting James for its AD vacancy. Thamel reports that an announcement is expected “in the coming days.”

James spent more than 8 years as Miami’s athletic director. He was originally hired in 2013 and held the job until being fired in November of 2021.

He inherited Al Golden as a coach and parted ways with him midway through the 2015 season. James went on to hire Mark Richt and Manny Diaz during his tenure.

In 8 years, Miami’s football program won 10+ games once and the Canes’ men’s basketball program reached 4 NCAA Tournaments.

The Hurricanes replaced James with former Clemson AD Dan Radakovich. That hire was made as Miami’s administration pledged to increase its investment in the Hurricanes’ athletic department.

James would replace Pat Kraft, who left Boston College for the athletic director job at Penn State.
