Miami offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee is moving on.

Lashlee is reportedly taking the head coaching job at SMU, a move which could be announced on Monday afternoon. That’s per The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy.

Lashlee was SMU’s offensive coordinator for two seasons before taking the Miami job. He now replaces his former boss, Sonny Dykes, who is heading up the road to be TCU’s head coach.

He led a transformation of Miami’s offense this season. The Hurricanes lost D’Eriq King to a season-ending injury early in the year, but were able to quickly build a more vertical passing offense behind freshman Tyler Van Dyke.

Van Dyke rewarded Lashlee’s trust by producing at a very high level. He threw for over 300 yards and 3+ touchdowns in each of Miami’s final six games.

Players like Charleston Rambo and Jaylan Knighton also thrived in Lashlee’s offense. Both will be eligible to return to Miami next season, along with Van Dyke.
