Miami made a run at Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, but he has reportedly decided to stay in Fayetteville.

That’s a tough break for Miami coach Mario Cristobal, who was targeting Briles as his next offensive coordinator. The Hurricnaes are looking to replace Rhett Lashlee, who left this offseason to take the head coaching job at SMU.
This means it’s back to the drawing board for Miami. Toledo head coach Jason Candle also reportedly turned down the role this week.
Regardless of who Miami hires for the job, it should have an explosive offense next season. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is returning and the Hurricanes have already made several impactful additions via the transfer portal. Running back Jaylan Knighton and tight end Will Mallory will also be back — and likely in increased roles — in 2022.
Cristobal still has time to make a hire before National Signing Day on Feb. 2. The Hurricanes currently have the No. 5-ranked class in the ACC, according to 247Sports Composite rankings
