Miami is adding a running back to its 2022 roster via the transfer portal, according to a report.

That’s per the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Adam Lichtenstein, who cites program sources who say UAB transfer Lucious Stanley will be joining the Hurricanes this season.

The addition comes after Miami had 2 scholarship running backs suffer longterm injuries during fall camp. TreVonté Citizen is out for the year with a knee injury. Donald Chaney Jr. will miss significant time, but is expected to play again this season.

Stanley has spent the last 5 years at UAB. He has 1,081 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in his career. In 2019 he rushed for a career-high 414 yards.

According to The Athletic’s Manny Navarro, Stanley is expected to be a walk-on for the Hurricanes this season. Coach Mario Cristobal declined comment on the situation on at his Monday press conference.

Miami is currently down to 3 healthy scholarship players: Jaylan Knighton, Henry Parrish Jr. and Thaddius Franklin Jr.

Miami opens the 2022 season with Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 3.
