Miami quarterback commit Jaden Rashada is evidently becoming a key recruiter for the Canes in the class of 2023.

Rashada is reportedly going after 4-star wide receiver Carnell Tate, who is currently committed to Ohio State. Tate attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

“He’s just like, ‘Yo, if you made the move to Miami…’ would I have any interest? I just sent the laughing emoji because at first, there was smoke about him going to Florida and stuff like that,” Tate told AllHurricanes on Friday.

“Definitely with the South Florida guys, they’re still recruiting them hard down there. Me and [5-star WR Brandon Inniss] talk about it, he said they won’t leave him alone. So I’m just like, ‘man, if they’re not leaving us alone, they must have something big going on down there.’

Inniss is from Fort Lauderdale and, like Tate, is also currently committed to Ohio State.

Miami’s 2023 recruiting class is in a great spot overall, but the Canes could use more talent at receiver. Miami has just 1 commitment from a wide out so far in 2023 and it’s arguably the least-proven position group on Miami’s active roster.

If the Canes could convince either Tate or Inniss to flip before signing day, it would have a tremendous impact on their recruiting class.

Tate also told AllHurricanes that IMG Academy teammate and current Miami commitment Francis Maugioa has been recruiting him and 5-star EDGE prospect Samuel M’Pemba. As it turns out, M’Pemba is expected to be in Coral Gables for Miami’s cookout on Saturday.

The Early Signing Period begins in December.
