Tyler Van Dyke is expected to miss multiple weeks of action, according to a report.

That’s per On3’s Miami affiliate, CaneSport. The report says Jake Garcia is expected to start this week and against Florida State in Week 10.

Van Dyke left the Duke game early with an apparent injury. Mario Cristobal did not give a substantive update on Van Dyke’s condition this week, but the quarterback was spotted with his right arm in a sling on Monday.

Miami is still the favorite this weekend against Virginia, but not having Van Dyke for the Florida State game is a crushing blow. Florida State narrowly defeated the Canes last season in Tallahassee.

Garcia will try to build some momentum this weekend against the Cavaliers. He threw three interceptions in Miami’s loss to Duke last week. He has completed 65.3% of his passes for 470 yards, two touchdowns and three picks so far this year.

Miami and UVA kickoff at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
