Rueben Bain earned another national accolade on Wednesday morning.

Bain was one of 14 freshmen named to the Fab 14 watchlist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman Football Player of the Year award. The honor is given out annually to the top freshman in all of college football.

Bain is one of three ACC players who made the cut alongsideClemson’s TJ Parker and NC State’s Kevin Concepcion.

Bain has become one of the top pass rushers in the conference this season, regardless of class. His 6.5 sacks this season ranks 4th amongst all ACC pass rushers entering Week 10. Bain has also collected 7.5 tackles for loss and 2 forced fumbles so far this season.

Earlier this week, NC State coach Dave Doeren said Bain is “one of the best” freshman defensive linemen he’s ever seen.

The Shaun Alexander Award has been handed out since 2018, with Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence taking home the inaugural honor.

Miami will try to win its third straight game on Saturday vs. NC State.
