Miami defensive lineman Akheem Mesidor is not dressed out for the Canes’ Week 2 meeting with Southern Miss on Saturday.

That’s according to multiple reports from beat writers on the ground at Hard Rock Stadium.

Mesidor made his Miami debut last week against Bethune-Cookman and was disruptive in Miami’s 70-13 victory. He recorded 4 tackles, 1 sack and tipped 1 pass at the line of scrimmage. That deflection was then picked off and returned for a touchdown early in the game.

Mesidor is a major part of Miami’s pass rush. He’s a top NFL Draft prospect and was one of the best incoming transfers Miami signed this offseason. He spent the previous 2 seasons at West Virginia.

According to the Athletic’s Manny Navarro, Mesidor’s issue is with his right foot.

Miami is still a heavy favorite over Southern Miss on Saturday, but Mesidor’s status will be a major storyline over the next week as the Canes prepare to face Texas A&M.

Miami and Southern Miss kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
