Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke believes his wide receivers will make up for the group’s injury crisis.

Miami will have to overcome not having wide receivers Xavier Restrepo (foot) and Jacolby George (thumb) for at least the next few weeks. Candidates to receive increased targets include Brashard Smith, Key’Shawn Smith, Frank Ladson and Michael Redding III.

Van Dyke said he believes in Miami’s healthy receivers moving forward.

“Most of these guys get 1s reps in the practices,” Van Dyke told reporters on Tuesday afternoon. “Off the field too, I have a good relationship with all those guys. With those two guys out, I know those guys will step up.”

Restrepo missed the Texas A&M game with a foot injury and will be out for an extended period. For George, he suffered a hand injury against Texas A&M on Saturday. Miami expected to be without Restrepo for a period, but the George injury could setback the offense.

George had 3 catches for 41 yards in Week 3. He was a factor in the passing game and Miami will need to pivot without him. While speaking to the media, Van Dyke gave his receivers a vote of confidence.

In Week 3, Van Dyke passed for 217 yards and completed 21 of 41 attempted passes. Van Dyke had a few passes that were dropped by his receivers. Miami will look to clean up the mistakes from the receivers.

Middle Tennessee will pay Miami a visit on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
