Miami is “hungry” to get back on track this weekend against North Carolina.

The Canes are preparing for a pivotal matchup against the Tar Heels in a game that could have major implications on who wins the ACC Coastal.

According to tight end Will Mallory, the team is ready to go after spending last week on bye.

“The mood is hungry,” Mallory told reporters on Tuesday. “Guys are fired up and hungry to get back out there and play.”

Miami has lost back-to-back games to Texas A&M and Middle Tennessee. The second of those losses saw quarterback Tyler Van Dyke get benched and Miami’s defense repeatedly give up big plays to the Blue Raiders.

However, the Canes still have plenty to play for. This will be Miami’s first ACC game of the season, so winning the Coastal is still within reach if it can get back on track.

North Carolina is also a top contender in this division. Pittsburgh was the favorite to win the Coastal, but it lost to Georgia Tech at home in Week 5. The division title race now appears to be wide open.

Miami and UNC kick off at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday.
