Devin Leary wrote a letter to NC State following his decision to enter the transfer portal.

Leary announced his decision on Monday that he will be leaving NC State after 5 seasons. In October, Leary suffered a season-ending injury against Florida State. He underwent surgery on a torn pectoral muscle and will finish out his eligibility at another school.

In his message, Leary expressed gratitude for his time at NC State.

“To my teammates, I will always cherish the brotherhood we shared for the rest of my life. Lastly, thank you WPN for your incredible support over the years,” Leary said. “With that being said, after much prayer and consideration, I have decided to enter my name in the transfer portal for my final year of eligibility.”

Before his injury, Leary passed for 1,265 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions in 2022. He will be remembered as one of the greatest quarterbacks in program history.

Leary will end his time ranked as No. 6 all-time in touchdown passes in NC State history. His 5,542 career passing yards rank No. 7 in school history.

Leary will be a desired recruit in the transfer portal in the next few weeks. NC State will take on Maryland in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Dec. 30.
