ESPN’s FPI predicts outcome in NC State-Texas Tech game

NC State is hosting an upset-minded Texas Tech team in Raleigh in Week 3.

The Wolfpack will be looking to move to 3-0 on the season with a win over the Red Raiders. According to ESPN’s Football Power index

, NC State is a comfortable favorite to do so.

FPI is giving NC State a 67.6% chance to beat Texas Tech on Saturday. NC State is also a double-digit favorite in Vegas.

The Wolfpack got off to a slow start in Week 1, narrowly escaping East Carolina. However, they looked much better vs. Charleston Southern in Week as they secured a 55-3 win.

Texas Tech is also 2-0 on the season and is playing well under first-year head coach Joey Maguire. Tech upset a ranked Houston team in overtime last week.

Perhaps more impressively, Texas Tech beat the Cougars with backup quarterback Donovan Smith playing the entire game. Tyler Shough suffered an injury in Week 1 and isn’t expected to play vs. NC State.

Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
