ESPN’s Todd McShay shares what he wants to see from Devin Leary vs. Clemson

ESPN NFL Draft expert Todd McShay will be watching NC State quarterback Devin Leary carefully this weekend against Clemson.

Leary entered the year with some NFL Draft hype, but he has struggled — by his lofty standards — to start the season. However, Leary now has an opportunity to earn back some goodwill against Clemson’s vaunted defensive front this weekend.

Here’s what McShay said about what he wants to see from Leary against Clemson

:

“I’m intrigued to see how NC State quarterback Devin Leary does against a loaded Clemson front seven. Leary has a really good arm and can be very accurate on all three levels (890 passing yards, nine touchdown throws and two interceptions), but he has struggled with interior pressure and against opponents that excel at disguising the blitz. That’s Clemson.”

The Tigers have proven to be vulnerable in the secondary, too. Clemson gave up 6 touchdown passes to Wake Forest and Sam H

artman last weekend. Leary and the Wolfpack could dial up a similar game plan.

So far this season, Leary has thrown for 890 yards, 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in 4 games. Only one of NC State’s opponents so far has been a Power 5 team. His passer efficiency rating of 144.37 ranks 8th in the ACC.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
