NC State will face Tennessee in Week 2 of the 2024 season.
Both programs announced that news on Tuesday afternoon. The game will be part of the Duke’s Mayo Classic series in 2024. The game will be played on September 7, 2024 in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“We are excited to participate in the 2024 Duke’s Mayo Classic. This is an incredible opportunity for our football program to face a great SEC opponent in our home state. The Charlotte Sports Foundation does a fantastic job and I’m looking forward to an electric atmosphere at Bank of America Stadium,” athletic director Boo Corrigan said in a press release.
NC State still has one vacancy in its nonconference schedule for 2024. T
he Wolfpack are also set to face Western Carolina and Louisiana Tech in that season. The Wolfpack were previously scheduled to face BYU in 2024, but that series was canceled last summer.
Tennessee and NC State have met 3 times previously. The Vols have a 2-1 record, winning in 2012 and 1939. NC State’s lone victory vs. Tennessee came back in 1911.
The Duke’s Mayo Classic is an annual event. In 2023, North Carolina and South Carolina will meet in the Duke’s Mayo Classic.
