NC State coach Dave Doeren raves about growth from Florida State, Jordan Travis

NC State head coach Dave Doeren praised Florida State for its improvement during the 2022 season at his weekly press conference on Monday.

NC State is getting set for a Week 6 tilt against Florida State at home. Doeren pointed how this Florida State team is much better than the team’s from the past.

“The most impressive Florida State team we’ve played in a while,” Doeren said.

Florida State heads into this week’s matchup with a 4-1 record. The team suffered its 1st loss of the season against Wake Forest. The Seminoles lost the game by 10 points, 31-21.

It has been a successful start to the season for Florida State and part of the team’s success is linked to quarterback Jordan Travis. Doeren saw tremendous growth in how well Travis has played.

“Last year I thought he was an athlete playing quarterback, this year he’s a quarterback,” Doeren said about Travis.

Travis passed for 3 touchdowns and 281 yards against Wake Forest. On the season, Travis has thrown for 1,226 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 1 interception. He has been a consistent playmaker for Florida State in 2022.

NC State has won the last 2 games against Florida State and 4 out of the last 5. In 2021, NC State walked away with a 28-14 road win in Tallahassee.

Doeren is expecting a competitive matchup on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.
