NC State coach Dave Doeren doesn’t seem to be interested in keeping things friendly with North Carolina.

In a production meeting with ESPN earlier this week, Doeren reportedly went off on the Tar Heels and their coaching staff. Here’s ESPN’s Dave Pasch relaying that message to the audience:

“They don’t like us. We hate them,” Pasch said, quoting Doeren. “We’re blue collar, they’re elitist. Their coaches talk down to us, they talk behind our backs in recruiting, and negatively about our coaching staff.”

This rivalry has been extremely competitive over the last decade. The teams have split the last 10 meetings at five wins each. NC State won last year’s battle, 34-30 in Raleigh.

It’s been a tough year for the Wolfpack as they have dealt with injuries to key players like quarterback Devin Leary. Backup quarterback MJ Morris is also injured and unable to play vs. the Tar Heels.

However, there’s still plenty to play for on both sides. UNC is looking to get past an upset loss to Georgia Tech last weekend. The Tar Heels are also hoping to secure their first 10-win season since 2015.

North Carolina was a 6.5-point favorite in this game.
