NC picked up a commitment from 4-star linebacker Elijah Groves on Wednesday afternoon.

Groves was previously committed to Kentucky and had been with the Wildcats since July. He backed off of that commitment to the Wildcats on Tuesday.

Instead, he’ll join the Wolfpack and be one of the headliners in their 2024 recruiting class.

Here’s his announcement:

Groves is the No. 302 overall player and the No. 25 linebacker in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 7 player from the state of Tennessee.

He attends East Robertson High School in Cross Plains, Tenn. Groves is listed at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds.

Groves also had offers from programs such as Purdue, Virginia Tech and Army. He took an official visit to Raleigh back in June.

Groves is now the third highest-ranked commit in NC State’s 2024 recruiting class, behind only 4-star athlete Jonathan Paylor and 4-star receiver Terrell Anderson. Overall, NC State has the No. 28 class in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
