NC State forward Greg Gantt entered his name into the transfer portal Wednesday morning after just 1 season in Raleigh. The former Providence transfer will have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining once he decides upon his next destination, having not played in 2022 due to an injury and taking advantage of the Covid-19 eligibility rule for the 2020 season.

Gantt suffered from more injury problems in 2022-23 with the Wolfpack, missing most of the first part of the season with a knee injury. He was purely a rotational player for NC State, averaging just above 10 minutes per game, though he did earn some starting minutes after returning from injury at the start of ACC play.

If Gantt can stay healthy, he definitely possessed the skillset and experience required for a Power 6 player, potentially even starter depending on where he ends up. Gantt is a solid rebounder and an underrated defender in the paint, but is not a strong scorer. The most points Gantt scored this season was 7 against Miami in January, and that’s with 17 starts.
