NC State holds double-digit halftime lead over Louisville despite offensive struggles
NC State holds a 10-0 lead over Louisville at halftime on Friday night.
The Wolfpack struggled mightily on the offensive side of the ball in the first half, managing just 86 yards of offense before the break. But NC State was dominant defensively as it forced a pair of Jack Plummer turnovers to help bolster its lead.
A late interception by Plummer set up NC State’s 49-yard field goal to close out the half.
NC State quarterback Brennan Armstrong struggled as a passer in the first half, but was able to move the ball with his legs. Armstrong threw for 30 yards on 5-of-10 passing. He rushed for 32 yards on a team-high 11 attempts.
NC State’s lone touchdown drive of the first half came in the 2nd quarter as the Wolfpack sustained a 13-play, 65-yard drive that took nearly 7 minutes off the clock. Outside of that drive, NC State managed just 1 first down before halftime.
The Wolfpack are playing in their second-consecutive weeknight game and their third of the season.
NC State is 4-8 all-time against Louisville. The Wolfpack are looking to win their 2nd straight ACC game this season.
