NC State legend Torry Holt is putting a great deal of trust in the Wolfpack to have a season unlike any other.

Holt is predicting NC State would embrace the expectations placed on the program and win the ACC Championship in 2022. He made that prediction on ACC Network on Sunday night.

If Holt’s prediction comes true, it would be NC State’s 8th conference championship in school history.

From 1995 to 1998, Holt played for the Wolfpack and finished his college career with a 19-26 record. The Wolfpack had 2 consecutive losing seasons to start off Holt’s time at NC State. In 1998, Holt finished in the top 10 in Heisman Trophy voting.

Nearly 25 years later, NC State is in a position to compete with the top teams for the ACC Championship on a yearly basis. Holt believed that this season’s team could be the best in the ACC (Via All Access With NC State):

“I think they’re primed to be ACC champions this year. That’s the expectation,” Holt said.

The Wolfpack are looking to replicate an impressive 2021 season. Despite not winning the ACC Championship in 2021, NC State finished with a 9-3 record. Head coach Dave Doeren enters his 10th season at NC State.

Doeren has not won 10 games in a single season at NC State. If he wants to win the conference championship, a 10-win season will need to be in the cards. Through 9 seasons, Doeren has a 64-49 record with the Wolfpack.
