NC State linebacker Drake Thomas announces plans for 2023 season, bowl game
NC State linebacker Drake Thomas is moving on.
Thomas announced his plans to enter the 2023 NFL Draft on Friday evening. This ends a long and productive career with the Wolfpack. However, Thomas does plan to play in NC State’s bowl game.

Thomas earned second-team All-ACC honors in 2022. He led the conference in tackles for loss with 15 this season. He finished fifth in that category in 2021 with 13.5 tackles for loss.
He played 4 seasons in Raleigh, racking up 281 total tackles while leading NC State’s defense during one of its most successful runs in program history. If NC State beats Maryland later this month, it will have four 9-win seasons in the last 6 years.
NC State will also have to replace Thomas’ leadership in 2023 and beyond. He was a team captain for the Wolfpack in 2022 and helped lead the team through a difficult season.
NC State will face Maryland in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Dec. 30 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
