NC State will visit one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the transfer portal this week, according to a report.

Per On3’s Pete Nakos, NC State will make an in-home visit with Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall as it looks for its solution at QB for 2024.

NC State is looking for a new quarterback in the transfer portal after a tumultuous 2023 at the position. Brennan Armstrong, who began and later finished the year as NC State’s starter, will be out of college eligibility. MJ Morris, who started 4 games for the Wolfpack mid-season and then sat out to maintain his redshirt, has announced his plans to enter the transfer portal.

McCall would be an interesting pickup for the Wolfpack. McCall has been a 4-year starter for Coastal Carolina and has 1 year of eligibility remaining. He has thrown for 10,005 yards, 88 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions in his career. He’s also averaged 9.8 yards per attempt in his career, although that figure dipped to 8.6 in 2023.

McCall is one of numerous high-profile quarterbacks who have entered the portal already this offseason. Duke’s Riley Leonard, Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke, Washington State’s Cam Ward and Oregon State’s DJ Uiagalelei are a few others who have already made their intentions clear.

NC State will learn its bowl destination on Sunday after the final CFP rankings are revealed.
