NC State offensive coordinator Tim Beck is a big fan of Florida State’s personnel on the defensive side of the ball.

Earlier this week, Beck was asked a question about FSU star pass rusher Jared Verse and his impact on the game. He took the opportunity to compliment FSU’s entire defense.

“He’s good,” Beck said, via 247Sports. “They’ve got a really good defensive line and good DBs. There is a reason they’re 4-1 and have beaten some good people. It’s gonna be a great challenge for our guys to bounce back against another good football team.”

Verse, who transferred from Albany this offseason, has already become one of the top pass rushers in the ACC. Entering Week 6, he’s the only ACC player who is averaging 1 sack per game.

And while Beck didn’t mention Florida State’s linebacker, the Seminoles are vastly improved at that position as well. Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune are both having excellent seasons.

Florida State’s stout defense will be a difficult test for NC State this weekend. The Wolfpack struggled to move the ball at times vs. Clemson last weekend. So far this season, they’re averaging 5.4 yards per play — that ranks 10th in the ACC.

Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
