NC State barely squeaked by in-state rivals East Carolina on Saturday. The No. 13 ranked Wolfpack managed a win by a sliver of one point, besting East Carolina 21-20.

After the game, NC State QB Devin Leary called the game a “reality check”. Leary struggled for much of the game, finishing 17-of-33 for 211 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception.

“It was a weird feeling in the locker room, honestly,” Leary said. “Guys were happy that we won, guys were satisfied that we were able to pull that off. But at the same time, guys were pissed. Guys were mad. Guys were kind of saying it’s a reality check for us.”

While it was nice to put a tick in the win column, the QB says that such a close win was not “satisfying”. Leary acknowledged the work the Wolfpack has to do to, taking no credit away from great plays made by ECU, saying “, You know, they came in, they humbled us a little bit”.

NC State will be headed “back to the drawing board,” as it prepares to face Charleston Southern at home Saturday.
