Terquavion Smith injury update: NC State details incident, reveals status

Terquavion Smith has been released from the hospital, NC State announced Sunday. The program provided an update on the Wolfpack standout after a scary scene in Chapel Hill that saw him leave Saturday’s game on a stretcher.

In a statement, NC State explained that a backboard and stretcher were brought out after Smith reported neck pain. Smith also felt elbow pain and numbness after he was injured on a hard foul in the second half. All x-rays were negative, leading to Smith’s release and return to Raleigh.

NC State men’s basketball sophomore guard Terquavion Smith reported neck and elbow pain and had numbness in his right arm after a foul midway through the second half of last night’s game at North Carolina. Due to the report of neck pain, medical procedure required the use of a backboard and stretcher to move him. Smith was taken to UNC Medical Center and all x-rays taken Saturday night were negative. He was released from the hospital and returned to Raleigh.

Smith’s playing status is day-to-day.

Smith and his mother had relayed Saturday night that he was feeling ok, but without the medical details now provided by NC State.

Smith leads the ACC in scoring at 18.7 points per game. After the loss at North Carolina, the Wolfpack look to bounce on Tuesday against Notre Dame. NC State fans will be watching closely to see if Smith is able to play.
