Thayer Thomas has a heartfeltmessage for NC State fans at the end of his college career.

In a video posted on Twitter, Thomas went through his entire journey of college football at NC State. Here is Thomas’ goodbye message to Wolfpack fans:

“Looking back on my time at NC State, it was definitely the best years of my entire life,” Thomas said. “Playing in Carter-Finely Stadium with my family by my side and my brother on the field with me has been a dream come true. I hope my time at NC State, I could really be a symbol of hope for people. As a walk-on to now where I’m at today, I think it’s just an example of you never want to give up on your dream. And I think I was able to accomplish that and show people you can dream big and accomplish things.

“I’m known for my play on the field but I also want to be remembered for who I am as a person and the way I treat people. My goal is to leave a legacy that will last forever. Make No. 5 something to be remembered and make No. 5 a legacy to be worn in future times. Thank you coach Doeren for giving me the opportunity to play football here. I still remember the day you came out to my high school game and you saw me play. To think that I’m here now is crazy to think about.

“I don’t think I could have drawn it up any better. Walk-on to the record books. Raleigh will always be home. Thank you, Wolfpack Nation.”

Thomas was with NC State since the 2018 season and he concluded his time with 215 receptions, 2,484 receiving yards, and 24 touchdowns. In 2022, Thomas played in all 13 games and had 57 catches for 642 yards and 3 touchdowns.

He is out of collegiate eligibility. His brother, Drake Thomas, is also leaving the program as he enters the NFL Draft. However, he has another younger brother — quarterback Lex Thomas — who is a member of NC State’s 2023 signing class.

NC State went 8-5 in 2022 following a 16-12 loss to Maryland in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
