Trent Pennix left a heartfelt message to fans after declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft on Monday.

Pennix started his career in Raleigh as a running back before switching to TE after a few seasons. He accounted for 179 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns this year. Pennix played in 53 games over the course of his 6-year college football career.

The good news is that fans will get to see him play in one final game. Here’s what he had to say about the move:

“I would like to thank Coach Doeren and the staff for the last 6 years I have been here and developing me into the student athlete I am today. The road was not always perfect, but God always has a plan. NC State will always be home to me for the rest of my life,” said Pennix. “To my brothers, nobody will know the blood, sweat, and tears we put into making this program the way it is today. With that being said it’s only the beginning of a new chapter in my life and after the conclusion of the bowl game I will be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft.”

The Wolfpack play Kansas State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl on Dec. 28. Kickoff will be at 5:45 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+.
