North Carolina is one of 3 remaining teams for 4-star defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett.

Jarrett is also considering Georgia and Auburn. He announced that top 3 — and a July 19th commitment date — in a video over the weekend.

Here’s his announcement:

Jarrett is a major target for UNC. He’s a North Carolina native and is the No. 26 defensive lineman in the country for the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 176 overall player.

He attends Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Despite the tough competition, the Tar Heels still have a good shot here. He spoked glowingly about North Carolina — and what the state means to him — in a recent interview with On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

“North Carolina is home to me (literally),” Jarrett told On3. “Chapel Hill has been supporting me since the beginning of this process. In fact they were my first offer. I love how Coach Cross takes care of his defensive lineman and how UNC provides so much love and care for their athletes especially “their in-state“ guys.”

Jarrett also has offers from programs like Texas A&M, LSU and Clemson.
