North Carolina center Armando Bacot has broken the program record for most double-digit rebounding games in a single season.

His 18 rebounds vs. Syracuse on Monday night gave him 24 such games this year, beating out Brice Johnson’s six-year-old record.

That’s per UNC hoops:

Bacot is also closing in on the record for most total rebounds in a single season. He has 380 with at least three games left this year, including the postseason. Johnson also holds the single-season record with 416.

If he returns to North Carolina for his senior season, he would have a chance at catching Tyler Hansbrough’s record for rebounds in a career. Bacot currently needs 384 more rebounds to tie Hansbrough.

Bacot is one of three leading candidates for ACC Player of the Year, alongside Duke’s Paolo Banchero and Wake Forest’s Alondes Williams. If Bacot has a big game vs. Duke on Saturday night, it could go a long way toward potentially winning that award.

UNC is also still on the NCAA Tournament bubble. The Tar Heels likely need one more win — either vs. Duke or in the ACC Tournament — to secure their place in the Field of 64.

North Carolina and Duke tip off at 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday.
