Armando Bacot FaceTime'd former UNC coach Roy Williams after Duke win
North Carolina big man Armando Bacot knew just who to call shortly after North Carolina’s stunning win over Duke on Saturday night.
That was former UNC coach Roy Williams, who retired following last season. Williams was Bacot’s coach for two years and recruited him to Chapel Hill.
Here’s a screenshot from Bacot’s Instagram story:

Bacot was dominant against Duke’s much-heralded front court on Saturday night. He scored 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds while helping to protect the paint. He also played every minute of the second half, along with UNC’s other four starters.
Bacot is one of three main contenders for ACC Player of the Year. Duke’s Paolo Banchero and Wake Forest’s Alondes Williams are also expected to receive serious consideration.
With the win over Duke, North Carolina is no longer considered to be a bubble team for the NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels now have two Quad 1 wins and could pick up another next week in the ACC Tournament.
North Carolina will be the No. 3 seed in the ACC Tournament. The Tar Heels’ quarterfinal game is on Thursday.
