Armando Bacot continued his recent hot streak on Friday night, leading North Carolina to a 88-65 victory over Georgia Tech in Chapel Hill.

Bacot scored 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting, which matches a career high that he set last weekend vs. Virginia. He also grabbed 12 rebounds, which secured his seventh consecutive double-double. Bacot also made all 9 of his free throw attempts.

RJ Davis was also efficient as he scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting. However, as a team the Tar Heels shot 47.6 percent. Aside from Bacot and Davis’ big nights, UNC shot just 33 percent (12-of-36) from the floor.

Bacot is in the midst of the best stretch of his career and perhaps the best stretch of any ACC player this season. Earlier this week, coach Hubert Davis said he was the clear top candidate for ACC Player of the Year so far.

Dawson Garcia returned to action after missing multiple games due to a concussion. He scored 4 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 20 minutes of play. Brady Manek, who played well in Garcia’s absence, got the start again tonight.

North Carolina has now won back-to-back games and is 4-1 in ACC play. The Tar Heels are on the right track toward claiming an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.

UNC will be in action again on Tuesday in a pivotal matchup with Miami. The Hurricanes are 5-1 in ACC play and are alone in first place atop the league standings. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. ET.
