Armando Bacot ties record for most double-doubles by an ACC player in 1 season
North Carolina star Armando Bacot continues to make history.
The junior center put up 20 points and 22 rebounds in UNC’s Elite Eight win over Saint Peter’s on Sunday night. That gave Bacot his 29th double-double of the season.
That ties a record with the legendary Tim Duncan for most double-doubles in a single season by an ACC player.

Bacot is comfortably averaging a double double this season. He entered Sunday night’s game with an average of 16.4 points and 12.6 rebounds per contest.
He’s already broken North Carolina’s single season record for double-doubles and rebounds. If Bacot returns to Chapel Hill next season, he’ll have a sho to break UNC’s all-time rebounding record, too.
Bacot got into early foul trouble in his first matchup with Duke this season, but was excellent when North Carolina upset Duke in Durham back on March 5. He scored 23 points on 10-of-11 shooting and grabbed 7 rebounds in the win.
Duke and North Carolina will meet in the NCAA Tournament for the first time on Saturday. Tipoff will be shortly after the conclusion of Villanova-Kansas.
