Brother of Luke and Drake Maye joins North Carolina basketball as a walk-on

Beau Maye, the brother of former UNC basketball player Luke Maye and quarterback Drake Maye, has joined Carolina’s basketball program as a walk-on.

The team announced that news on Wednesday afternoon:

Beau is younger than Luke but older than Drake. He’s entering his 3rd year of college but has not played basketball collegiately. He initially chose to enroll at North Carolina as a regular student coming out of high school.

Beau is 6-foot-9, making him the tallest child of f

ormer North Carolina quarterback Mark Maye. Mark played for the Tar Heels from 1984-87.

North Carolina basketball is entering this season with major expectations. The Tar Heels return 4 starters from a squad that made it all the way to the National Championship game last season.

UNC opens its season against UNCW on Nov. 7.
