North Carolina took care of business on Tuesday night in its season-opener, defeating Loyola (MD) 83-67.

It was the first game of the Hubert Davis era, and the Tar Heels performed well for their new head coach. Former 5-star guard Caleb Love led the way with 22 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds.

This was just the third time in Love’s UNC career that he’s hit the 20-point threshold. His career high is 25 points vs. Duke back on Feb. 6, 2021. Crucially, he also had zero turnovers vs. Loyola on Tuesday night.

Here’s one of his best plays of the night:

Oklahoma transfer Brady Manek was also exceptional in his debut game for the Tar Heels. He started and scored 20 points while also adding 5 rebounds. He was 9-of-15 from the field and was a +20 for the game.

Fellow transfer Dawson Garcia came off the bench, but nearly had a double double with 12 points and a team-high 9 rebounds. The former Marquette big man made 1-of-2 3-pointers and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.

North Carolina hosts Brown on Friday.
