North Carolina defeated UCLA 73-66 in Philadelphia on Friday night, punching its ticket to the Elite Eight.

Sophomore Caleb Love stole the show, especially in the second half. He scored 30 points, with 27 of them coming after halftime.

Love made several deep 3-pointers in the second half, including on back-to-back possessions in crunch time to give UNC the lead for good. He finished 6-of-13 from beyond the arc.

Armando Bacot scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. He was also a crucial defender in the paint and was able to stay out of foul trouble in the second half.

As a team, North Carolina compiled 15 offensive rebounds. That allowed the Tar Heels to win the 2nd chance points battle, 19-6.

North Carolina will now face St. Peter’s in the Elite Eight on Sunday. The Peacocks stunned No. 3-seeded Purdue earlier in the day on Friday. They are the first No. 15 seed to ever reach the Elite Eight.

North Carolina and Duke are now each 1 win away from facing off against each other in the Final Four. The two rivals have never played before in the NCAA Tournament. Duke will face Arkansas on Saturday.
