Cormac Ryan exits North Carolina exhibition game with ankle injury

Cormac Ryan suffered an injury in North Carolina’s exhibition game against the Saint Augustine’s Falcons.

The Notre Dame transfer collected 10 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal in the 1st half before suffering an ankle injury. For the 2nd half, Elliot Cadeau came into the game in Ryan’s place.

The Tar Heels are expecting big things from Ryan in the 2023-24 season. The forward is expected to start after transferring to Chapel Hill this offseason. Ryan is a sharpshooter who has a career 35% 3-point percentage.

Ryan spent his first collegiate season with the Stanford Cardinal before transferring to Notre Dame. Through 3 seasons in South Bend, Ryan averaged 10.5 points, 4.4 r

ebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. Ryan is one of 5 players that the Tar Heels added via the transfer portal this offseason.

The Tar Heels easily handled the Falcons in the exhibition game Friday night, winning 117-53. RJ Davis led the team with 22 points, while freshmen Zayden High and Elliot Cadeau combined for 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists in the match.

The Heels open the regular season on November 6 against Radford.
