Dan Mullen announced his picks for the 2023 Heisman Trophy finalists on Tuesday. Mullen chose four players in college football who he thinks have the best chance.

Mullen’s list included Drake Maye, Caleb Williams, Michael Penix Jr., and Blake Corum. Williams currently has the best Heisman odds at +460. Penix has the next-best odds among those featured at +1564. Maye’s odds are +1718, while Corum’s are +3299.

Williams is obviously going for the ultra-rare accomplishment of winning the Heisman twice. The only player to win the award twice was Archie Griffin for Ohio State during the 70s.

Maye is entering into 2023 after a solid first year as North Carolina’s starting quarterback. Maye threw for 4,321 yards passing with 45 total touchdowns.

Maye would be the first ever player from North Carolina to take home the honor if he wins in 2023. The young QB has shown that can score with both his arm and legs.

Does Maye have what it takes to be the first Tar Heel to win the Heisman?
